Canoe Kayak BC follows the Canadian Coaching Pathway model as designed by Canoe Kayak Canada.

Coach/Instructor Requirements
 
1. Criminal Record Checks
All coaches and instructors must provide a Criminal Record Check (CRC) every five years for those 19 years and older. Criminal Record Checks for Volunteers can be processed from 12 years old and older. The CKBC online code is MDMAXBCRKS. Should you not meet the criteria for an online submission; print and mail your CRC.
 
2. NCCP Certification
Coaches/instructors must be certified under the National Coaching Certification Program where programming is available. To see current offerings for NCCP Canoe Kayak Coach Education, see our Season Calendar section. 
 
3. Code of Conduct
Adherence to the Safe Sport approved Code of Conduct.
 
4. Safe Sport or Respect In Sport
There are two options for training. CAC Safe Sport Training and/or Respect in Sport - Activity Leaders Training for level 2 and 3 risk levels, and the recommended completion of this training for level 1 risk levels.
 
5. Making Ethical Decisions
Coaches and Instructors are also required to complete Making Ethical Decisions.
