Community Coach (CanoeKids)

Community Initiation workshops (CanoeKids) is an introductory coaching course. A multi-disciplinary approach (canoe, kayak, SUP, marathon, recreation, etc..) it teaches new and inexperienced coaches the role of the coach. Ensuring coaches offer a fun and safe environment  to teach the development of some of the “FUNdamentals” stage skills and abilities for participants. 
*Please note: We ask that all participants use a Google or G-Suite email account as all clinic material will be made available through Google Classroom.

Friday, April 29th, 2022 - 6pm to 9pm (Virtual)
Saturday, April 30th, 2022 - 10am to 1pm (Virtual)
Sunday, May 1st, 2022 - 10am to 2pm (In person Burnaby Lake - Practical)
*Out of town participants (further than 1.5 hour drive) please contact to discuss other options for the in person training.

*Please note, this coach education clinic is reserved for those who have completed the CanoeKids online training within the last 2 years.
In-Person Clinic

*This in-person clinic is open to any person who has taken the online CanoeKids Training within the past 2 years and has yet to be apart of an in-person session.
*Please note, 6 participants are required for the clinic to be offered

Entry-Level Competitive Coach (ELCC)

Coaches must have previous coaching experience and are certified in the CanoeKids courses before registering for ELCC. Registrants have a desire to work with athletes in the sprint discipline  over the long term to improve performance, often in preparation for provincial, national, and international competitions.
Note: This course offering will involve the addition of the draft Surfski Coaching supplement.

Registration Process: 
Registration for all coaching courses will be done on the RAMP registration system. The registration links will be active soon and everyone will be made aware when registration opens. For on-line courses, there is a max capacity of 12 registrations. In the event there is demand, additional courses may be added. 

*If your club is interested in hosting an in person coaching course, please reach out to our Sport Development Manager at Generally speaking, in order for the in person course to be feasible, a minimum of 6 registrants is required.
