Para Canoe/Kayak

Logo

Para Canoe/Kayak is based on sprint paddling with a few adaptations for persons with physical disabilities. Because it requires no running or walking, Para Canoe/Kayak is an ideal sport for people with limited use of their lower body.

Para Canoe/Kayak athletes are classified based on the ability an athlete has in his or her legs, trunk and arms (LTA, TA and A).

Athletes at Canoe Kayak BC member clubs have competitive opportunities at provincial and national championships as well as at the BC Summer Games. Based on results, athletes may be selected for CKBC's Provincial Team.

Para Canoe/Kayak made its Paralympic debut in 2016 and athletes have international competitive opportunities as members of Canoe Kayak Canada's national team program.
